Women in black trailer

The trailer uses many media forms in the trailer to make it effective. One way the trailer does this is by using low key lighting which makes it look spooky as everything is dark and we can only see the boy walking across on the train, it also has an very effective top lighting which makes the book the object to stand out. This affects the audience as they want to know what is going to happen next. The genre of the film is thriller as it has shocking parts we can also tell this by the low key lighting. The black clothing connotes death and revenge as there is something evil going on or even something wrong this affects the audience as they want to find out what is going to happen next.
The types of shots are used are mostly medium shots long shots and close ups this media form helps to make an effective trailer as the close up shots makes us see the facial expressions on the characters and their reactions towards what is happening, however the long shot allow us to see the setting for example an empty room with only objects such as dolls lying around we also see a view of the long shot where the man is staring outside watching a child disappear which shocks the audience. This makes the audience want to watch further on and know what is really happening as they are only able to see quick flashes of scenes. The diegetic sound of the voice over in the background make it sound like “Gods voice” coming from behind where the audience listen to the voice and are able to see different scenes. The editing makes the trailer more effective as the shots are at a quick pace as we see a jump cut with flashes of different scenes and then suddenly we see it fading in which makes it affective as we only get to see a small part of information.
The sound of slamming doors and crushing dolls connotes death of people as well as the toys this affects the audience as well as persuades them to watch the film as unexpected things are happening in the trailer. The trailer uses shocking moments as the guy is looking out in the deserted area and suddenly us (the audience) see someone pop out behind the guy which freaks audience out and persuades them to watch it. The over shoulder shot of someone looking at the window which has water coming down and presents the movie title we see someone’s hair flowing towards the camera this persuades the audience to watch the film as it seems to be seen that someone is looking upon them there might be a third person who is watching them.
Another technique the trailer uses in order to persuade audience is enigma codes as we see three young girls wearing white which shows that there is something connected with them and the picture. The white clothing connotes pure and angels but, we also see them dressed in black which makes it shocking. This persuades the audience to watch the film.
In conclusion, I think that the trailer is effective to persuade audience to watch the movie as they use different type of media forms in order to gather its audience.
